About
An Asian American actor and filmmaker, born and raised in Los Angeles County.
Philycius Oey earned associate degrees at Pasadena City College before transferring to Pomona College, where he studied Media Studies and turned toward filmmaking.
He made his first screen appearances in Spitball and Little Chef (2024), both directed by Michael Yu. Later that year he co-founded the production company Berkmont with Yu and Abbie Oh Arroyo, handling everything from legal formation to digital infrastructure. In 2025 he wrote, directed, and edited the short thriller Parasocial.
On set he has worked as a script supervisor on Indah and the Spirits, a CalArts MFA production with an Indonesian American cast and crew, and as assistant camera, grip, and production assistant. His editorial photography has been published in The Chronicle of Higher Education.
His work centers on Asian American stories. He believes the most compelling ones come from the intersection of technical craft and cultural specificity.
